Roblawmax is excited to be engaged to recruit a Principal Engineer (OLE) on behalf of a leading international engineering consultancy. The Australian business continues to prosper (and grow) on the back of established Technical Authority contracts, combined with continued growth and presence on key D&C contracts. The vertical structure of the business will see you gain exposure to a diverse range of major APAC projects, with a career pathway into domestic and ANZ leadership roles.

You will provide leadership to the team across design, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services on a wide range of rail projects through Australia and abroad. This will include high level involvement with key D&C partners (awarded and/or at tender phase) for major developments or directly with client stakeholders in support of existing reference design and technical authority contracts. 

You will provide leadership across all levels of design including (reference, tender & detailed) across metro and light rail projects. This will include major developments through to brownfield platform, station, and line upgrades to existing infrastructure. 

To be considered for this Principal Engineer role you will ideally possess:

  • Charted Engineering status (or eligibility)
  • Ability to drive creative & ‘point of difference’ design solutions that considers economic parameters. International experience would therefore be highly regarded (eg CRE level experience with Network Rail or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience in the development of fee proposals including resource requirements and programme
  • Demonstrated project management experience of delivering projects to clients’ satisfaction ensuring the accuracy of drawings and calculations
  • Ability to work within financial and programme constraints, monitoring expenditure against the project fee combined with the ability to produce monthly project workload and fee forecasts.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to tailor your technical messages according to your audience
  • Experience across different JV, Alliance, D&C or PPP partnership arrangements inclusive of partnership negotiations, pre-contract activities and project execution phases.
  • Ability to present to large groups (both internal or external)
  • Ability to recruit, manager and mentor a team
